Etoricoxib is a selective COX-2 inhibitor used for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout and acute dental pain.

Mechanism
It inhibits COX-2 while sparing COX-1, so prostaglandin driven pain and swelling fall without the platelet and gastric mucosal effects that come from COX-1 blockade. Sparing COX-1 is also why it does not protect the heart the way aspirin does, and the unopposed prostacyclin loss is the mechanism behind the class cardiovascular signal.
