A-PHP (alpha-pyrrolidinohexanophenone, or alpha-PHP) is a pyrrolidine synthetic cathinone, the one-carbon homologue of the widely abused stimulant alpha-PVP ("flakka"). It functions as a potent and relatively selective dopamine transporter reuptake inhibitor, at least as potent as alpha-PVP, producing intense central stimulation and euphoria; structure-activity work shows most ring-substituted analogues retain strong dopamine-over-serotonin selectivity. Its powerful reinforcing action is associated with compulsive, binge-pattern redosing, which accounts for much of its harm potential. Forensic and clinical reports describe agitation, psychosis, cardiovascular toxicity and fatal intoxications, frequently in combination with other substances.

Mechanism
A-PHP inhibits the and transporters (the proteins that recycle these neurotransmitters), letting them build up and drive powerful stimulation. Its high potency at the is thought to underlie its strong euphoria and heavy reinforcement. As a pyrrolidine cathinone it shares the mechanism of a-PVP and MDPV.

Its strong dopamine action makes it highly compulsive, so people redose repeatedly and can end up in multi-day binges marked by sleeplessness, paranoia, and stimulant psychosis. Physically it strains the heart with high blood pressure and racing heart rate, and hyperthermia (overheating) and agitation are real risks. Not worth it under any framing. The dopamine selectivity that makes it feel strong is the same thing that drives multi-day binges, sleeplessness, paranoia and stimulant psychosis, and fatal intoxications are on record.
