Its measured affinity for that site is far lower than that of diazepam, which may help explain why it can ease anxiety in animals without the pronounced sedation or muscle relaxation typical of benzodiazepines [2]. Consistent with a mechanism, wogonin increased chloride influx and blocked seizures induced by pentylenetetrazole and by electroshock in rodents, effects that were reversed by flumazenil and bicuculline [3].
