4F-MPH is methylphenidate with a fluorine added to the para position of the phenyl ring. It blocks dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake much like methylphenidate, but the fluorine makes it somewhat more potent and more dopamine-weighted. It produces a focused, driven stimulation with the usual cardiovascular and dependence risks.

Mechanism
4F-MPH is a - that binds the dopamine and norepinephrine transporters to raise levels of both, with the para-fluoro substitution increasing potency and dopamine selectivity relative to methylphenidate. Like other phenidates it works by blocking reuptake rather than triggering release. The stronger dopamine emphasis gives it a more euphoric, reinforcing character than plain methylphenidate.
