ETH-LAD (6-ethyl-6-nor-lysergic acid diethylamide) is a lysergamide psychedelic and close structural analogue of LSD in which the N-6 methyl group of the ergoline scaffold is replaced by an ethyl group. Like LSD and other serotonergic hallucinogens it acts as an agonist at the 5-HT2A receptor, the principal molecular target mediating classical psychedelic effects, and lysergamides in this series reliably induce the 5-HT2A-dependent head-twitch response in rodents. It emerged as a research chemical distributed on blotters and in powders, alongside its 1-acyl prodrug 1P-ETH-LAD, which hydrolyses to ETH-LAD in serum. Users and comparative surveys describe effects broadly similar in time course to LSD but often report greater potency, more pronounced visual activity, and a heavier or more anxiogenic body load, and its analytical and metabolic profiles have been characterised to support forensic detection.
- Strong, vivid visuals
- Long, immersive experience
- Distinct character from LSD
- More potent, visual 5-HT2A-agonist LSD analogue
- Anxiety and body load
- Vasoconstriction
- Insomnia after use
- Potent, so easy to overshoot
Mechanism
ETH-LAD works chiefly as an at the receptor, the receptor central to the psychedelic state, with secondary activity at 5-HT2C and . Swapping LSD's N6 methyl for an ethyl group shifts potency and character, often intensifying visuals and the physical side of the experience. It is a distinct active lysergamide rather than a .

Safetyrisks and cautions, not medical advice
ETH-LAD is often reported as more physically intense and anxiety-provoking than LSD, and because it is potent, small differences in amount can matter; it lacks formal safety data. Avoid with a personal or family history of psychosis or bipolar disorder, and never combine lysergamides with MAOIs or strongly serotonergic drugs (serotonin toxicity), or with lithium or tramadol (seizure reports). Not medical advice.
Subjective profileweighing the evidence above
Potent enough that small measuring errors matter, and it charges more for the same trip: heavier body load, more vasoconstriction and more anxiety than LSD, with no formal safety data at all. For people who already know the lysergamide family well, and never near an MAOI, lithium or tramadol.

FAQ
Is ETH-LAD stronger than LSD?
It is commonly reported as somewhat more potent per unit and more visual and body-heavy, though it varies by person.
Is it a prodrug?
No; unlike the 1-acyl compounds, ETH-LAD is itself the active lysergamide.
Why do people call it anxious?
Its stronger physical and visual load can tip into anxiety, so set and setting matter. This is not medical advice.
